About Us

John Longo and Valoree Longo have been married since September 1995, however, have been at each other’s side since October 1989.
John Longo, was born and raised in Greenwich, CT, and has been a full-time arborist for approximately 40 years. He is also a certified mechanic and certified welder. John is very handy and has great common sense for repairing what needs fixing. John enjoys fishing, boating, playing drums, dogs, all outdoor activities, and grandchildren.

Valoree Garner Longo, born and raised in California has been a real estate broker for 33 years. Currently a broker associate for Coldwell Banker, Cheshire, Connecticut. Valoree’s hobbies were running barrels and team roping in the rodeo circuit in her early 20s. She moved to Connecticut
in 1989 where she continued to sell real estate, as well as raise 3 daughters. Our family of 3 daughters now consists of 8 grandchildren. Happily, all of our family resides in Connecticut.

Valoree and John always loved Labrador Retrievers, so in 2006 they purchased a male black Labrador Retriever. Not long after we purchased our male, along came the purchase of 2 female black Labrador retrievers

Shortly after the purchase of the Labradors the breeding began, and then the calls for boarding started immediately. One thing led to another as the puppies’ new owner wanted to go on vacation. They all began reaching out to us about kenneling their dog while they were away.
Thank God for my handy husband John, as he began turning our horse barns into dog kennels. That was one of the best things we ever did. Word spread quickly as Sue told Karen and Karen
told Scott… and so on.

We have since sold the place in Stamford we used to own. We took on a new business venture known as Tamarack Lodge. Tamarack Lodge was a closed-down resort, that had a 6000 square foot lodge, 28 cabins, and a guest house. We re-opened the business and had it up and thriving very well within 5 years. We also put in dog kennels as we have had continued customers who still reach out to us for the care of their pets. We were owner-operators of all aspects at Tamarack which included: renovating, orchestrating weddings from the menu to the décor, handling all overnight stays in the cabins and guest house, maintaining all outdoor maintenance such as safety pruning, removing trees, lawn maintenance, running large outdoor music events and so much more. We sold Tamarack after we had it thriving to a fabulous couple in November of 2021.

Once we sold Tamarack, we felt we were ready for a normal retirement. We are not. My husband is now retired and quite bored. So, we began looking at opportunities for possible income that we enjoy and we enjoy the company of pets:)

Then along came “Bethway Kennels”.
